About Us
Worthy is an early-stage startup building an AI tax analysis platform for financial advisors. We parse tax returns, reason about complex tax scenarios, and generate recommendations that have to be precise enough for a professional to act on. You’d be the 3rd engineering hire.
The Role
Generalist work across backend services, cloud infrastructure, AI integrations, and internal tooling. In a given week you might build a Go service that orchestrates multi-model tax analysis, debug a CDK deployment across our multi-account AWS setup, add a command to our developer CLI, or wire up a new database query with sqlc.
A big part of this role is building and improving our AI pipelines—integrating document extraction models, designing prompts, evaluating outputs, and making the system smarter over time. This isn’t a role where AI is an afterthought; it’s the core of what we build.
The Stack
Go monorepo with ConnectRPC, sqlc, and buf for codegen. PostgreSQL on Aurora. AWS infrastructure managed with CDK across multiple accounts—ECS Fargate, S3, CloudFront. We call Gemini and Claude for document extraction and tax analysis. We build our own developer CLI and MCP servers for deployment and code review. Docker locally, GitHub Actions for CI, Tailscale for network access.
What We’re Looking For
Junior to mid-level. What matters to us:
- You use AI coding tools well. We use tools like Claude Code and Codex for planning, implementation, and review. We want to see that you can use them effectively and safely—that you know when to trust the output and when to stop and think.
- You’re comfortable in a terminal.
- You care about getting things right. We work with people’s tax data—accuracy and security aren’t optional.
Total cash compensation is $130,000–$180,000, plus equity.
To Apply
Send a short note about yourself. Ideally include an example of using AI coding tools to ship something real—a screen recording, a PR, a blog post, whatever shows how you work.
